About Me

Laura Shipp owner of Courageous Wellbeing

Back in 2016 a respected senior colleague told me I was courageous and it subsequently emerged as one of my top strengths through personality profiling... it has stayed with me ever since and inspired me to set up Courageous People Partners two years later!

I am Laura Shipp, a qualified practitioner and coach, also the founder of Courageous People Partners & Courageous Wellbeing. I am a cat lover, keen gardener and travel enthusiast...

I am great at building rapport and being able to dance in the moment, challenging clients often with humour to dig deeper and achieve clarity of purpose and goals.  I am passionate about personal and professional development and have confidence in the courage and determination of the people I work with to find and apply their own solutions.  Change is often rapid, and I love seeing my clients have that instant lightbulb moment.

I come from a learning, leadership, talent and organisational development background with 16 years' experience in a number of complex organisations and sectors (financial services, technology, energy and construction).  I have a successful track record of implementing talent governance arrangements, designing assessment and development programmes, and delivering organisational change initiatives.  I draw on this experience in my consultancy work with organisations.

I am a volunteer career & life coach with Shaw Trust and mentor with the Women's Utilities Network.

I am a registered hypnotherapist with the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council, licentiate member of the British Institute of Hypnotherapy & NLP and professional member of the Association for NLP.  I am a master NLP practitioner with a clinical diploma in hypnotherapy (trained by Phil Parker creator of the Lightning Process).  I also hold memberships with the International Coach Federation, Integral Eye Movement Therapy Association, The Academy of Systematic Kinesiology and am a student member of the Federation of Nutritional Therapy Practitioners.

I am a British Psychological Society accredited psychometric test user and MCIPD qualified previously holding chartered member status with the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development as well as being a Chartered Institute of Arbitrators' accredited mediator.

I hold enhanced DBS, first aid and safeguarding children level 1 certifications.  I am fully insured and receive supervision.  I have also completed two courses on infection prevention and control, and specifically covid-19 awareness.

I am committed to my own development - I recently qualified as a Happy Confident Kids practitioner which combines NLP and play for children and also recently completed practitioner and advance practitioner training in Integral Eye Movement Therapy (IEMT) which I will start offering to clients later in the summer.  I hold an anatomy and physiology qualification and completed The Academy of Systematic Kinesiology Balanced Health programme earlier this year.

I discovered kinesiology back in 2015 through working with a Naturopath after my health wasn't where I wanted it to be.  I was amazed with the results so set the target of training in kinesiology myself, which I started four years later.  Appreciating the vital role nutrition plays I am also training in naturopathic nutritional therapy.

Throughout my career I have been privileged to work with some incredible personal and professional development specialists, such as, occupational psychologists and executive coaches.  I now proudly partner with these specialists and other providers to offer you or your workplace a varied, flexible and high-quality service.   I also have a strong network of holistic therapists and am one of the founding members of the Somerset Wellbeing Forum.
